St. Michael’s, along with our partner church in refugee resettlement, Grosse Pointe Congregational, have collected enough furniture and other items to furnish a two-bedroom apartment. We were able to accumulate most of the furniture through the generosity of St. John’s Armenian Church of Southfield, as one of their parishioners left her home and its possessions to the church.
We have spoken to the Refugee Resettlement Agency (Samaritas) and have been advised that an apartment building on Elmdale Avenue in Detroit is being re-habbed and will be available in the near future. In the mean while, the furniture is in storage, as we await the time when we will be able to welcome a refugee family to their new home and new life.
